Built in 1906 by architect
Klingenberg of Amsterdam in accordance with the creative energy of Sultan
Makmun Alrasyid of Deli.
Part of the building for the
construction of this mosque came from the “Deli Maatschapoij” and the Chinese
millionere Tjong A fie. The clock inside the mosque is a gift from Queen
Wilhelmina.
The Grand Mosque has been used at a
place of worship since 10 September 1909. It is a tourist interest as well as a
city landmark.
During the fasting month and
especially at the end of it when the led prayer is being held. It is
overflowing with Islamic worshippers to the yard grounds.
